After the year 2001 pan-European smash success with "Come Along" Titiyo faced a too common question at career peaks: how to proceed from here? The answer never really arrived. After having failed with an attempted follow up album in 2004 she even seriously considered folding her career. She'd growned tired of the label "The Queen of Swedish soul". Hey, she hadn't even been focused on soul since the early Nineties!

Luckily enough the final decision was to re-start from the very beginning.

Titiyo bought herself a home studio equipment that was in every sense "intentionally cheap" - a very dimentary Casio synth and a Portacorder. With these simple tools she spent a winter in her Stockholm apartment and tried out her new pop visions. The song "X" on her just released fifth studio album "Hidden" is one result of these solitary headphone sessions.

Later on Titiyo spent some time in Chelsea, New York, and at different places in her native Sweden to find yet more inspiration for for her newfound enthusiasm. In the end she had a collection of songs that she dared to present to producers and musicians she trusted.

"Hidden" is a careful balancing between classic at times soulflavoured pop and daring provocative electronica. One early inspiration was the Thom Yorke album "Eraser". But through the project also ambient music, mature trip-hop and German krautrock (especially Can) was obvious sources for inspiration.

The album was recorded in Stockholm with different producers through 2007 and the first half of 2008. One key song is the first single in Sweden, "Stumble To Fall". Another is the hypnotic krautsoul saga named "Drunken Gnome". Two songs - "Awakening" and "Longing For Lullabies" - are collaborations with producer/artist Andreas Kleerup of Robyn/Kleerup "With Every Heartbeat" fame.

"Hidden" was met with overwhelming reviews when released in Sweden. The first rave review presented the headline: "The most beautiful sadness ever heard". A fitting description to an album that in all ways states that Titiyo is back on the scene.
