Madrid's first full-length label release is a gorgeous collection of moods and intergalactic journeys that would easily find a home on almost any music listener's shelf. Working in the same vein as electronic pioneers such as The Chemical Brothers and Daft Punk, Madrid is a production duo piloting a shared musical vision. A special sound in the minds of great friends.

Duncan Christie and Adam Perry first met in High School, establishing a collective passion for electronic music early on. The two joined forces in an industrial-electro band in the mid-nineties and have never looked back. Those first experiments in a shared love of modern music would form the basis of Madrid and create one of the most exciting new bands coming out of Canada today.

Their 2003 debut "Warm Waters" (Aporia/Universal) enveloped the listener with gentle arpeggios, rolling bass lines and harmonious melodies, converting fans and critics alike across the globe. Having drawn comparisons to Boards of Canada, the Orb and Royksopp, their two singles "Stereostar" and "Quick Space" have received significant airplay on North American radio stations.

Joining the two onstage, prodigal drummer Eric Lightfoot and guitar/sonic-guru Sean Evans magically transform the album tracks into hi-energy club bangers with complex arrangements, harder beats and psychedelic underwater video projection that catapult their dynamic and captivating live show to an entirely new dimension. Think Godspeed!-meets-Kraftwerk.

The Toronto-based duo are currently working on their next release, due out 2005. "It's going to be heavier - influenced in part by our live playing. We want to make more of a 'morning album' as opposed to a 'night-time' album", Christie says, reflecting the energy and excitement of a band that simply love what they do.

The water is warm. Come and get your feet wet.
