Aporia Records – Licensing Guidelines
General:
- In most cases, we control both the master recording and the music publishing rights;
however, in cases where there is a third-party music publisher (e.g. in the case of
cover tunes), you will be responsible for seeking permission and licensing these rights
directly from the publisher.
- Clearance will generally take less than one week and you will receive a response or
our licence by fax or email. You should not proceed until approval has been granted,
and the signed license and payment have been received.
- A non-exclusive license implies that others may have already licensed the track you
are requesting for similar uses, or could do so in the future. We may be able to offer
a period of exclusivity, but cannot guarantee that nobody has used the requested track
in the past. If this is important to you, we can provide a track history upon request.
Non-Commercial Uses:
- For school/student use, we grant a gratis license.
- For festivals, our standard rate is $500 per side (i.e $1000 for both master and publishing rights).
Our short form licence for non-commercial use is limited to one year, and cannot
be amended.
Other Uses:
- Other than for schools or festivals, we do not have a fixed price so your request must
be sent with your financial proposal.
